Sills Training: Mediation Services for Refugee Sponsorships

The Neighbourhood Group Community Services, Conflict Resolution & Training service in Toronto is carrying out a project funded by Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), providing free training, coaching and mediation services for people involved in refugee sponsorships:  community members, Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) agencies and others.

In addition, we are providing training for volunteer mediators in community mediation and restorative justice services, to help them do mediation for actual conflicts faced by newcomer refugee sponsors, refugees, and the agencies with whom they interact.

We are inviting your volunteer mediators to take part in this on-line training. It is divided into two parts:  a) a session on mediators’ skills for this specific kind of conflict (please see attached "Agenda Volunteer Mediator Training") and, b) a second session to practice those skills in role plays set in sponsorship situations.
